CYCLING

We value safety, camaraderie, and respect for all members. Please familiarize yourself with the following rules and etiquette guidelines to ensure enjoyable rides for everyone.

1. Safety First:

  • Always wear a helmet and appropriate safety gear.
  • Obey traffic laws and signals.
  • Communicate hazards such as potholes, debris, or traffic verbally and with hand signals.
  • Ride predictably and maintain control of your bike.
  • Keep a safe distance from other riders, especially in congested areas.
  • Use lights and reflective gear in low-light conditions.
  • Ride as close to the side of the road as practical. Do not ride in the middle of the road.

2. Group Riding Etiquette:

  • Ride in a predictable and smooth manner.
  • Hold your line and avoid sudden movements.
  • Maintain a steady pace and avoid surging or braking abruptly.
  • Communicate clearly with other riders.
  • Point out obstacles and hazards to help keep the group safe.
  • Respect the pace of the group and be mindful of slower riders.

3. Communication:

  • Use verbal cues such as "slowing," "stopping," or "clear" to alert others.
  • Signal turns and changes in direction using hand signals.
  • Communicate respectfully with fellow riders and motorists.
  • Listen to instructions from ride leaders and experienced members.

4. Riding in Groups:

  • Ride single file to allow traffic to pass safely. Ride two abreast only when road width and traffic allow.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and make room for passing vehicles.
  • Avoid overlapping wheels with other riders to prevent accidents.
